Deaonnim Charities LBG, hereafter shortened as Deaonnim, is a Dutch-Ghanaian Non-Governmental Organisation whose founders are inspired by the Twi proverb:
“Dea onnim no sua a, ohu“.
This proverb translates in English and in Dutch as, respectively:
“When he who does not know learns, he gets to know“.
“Wanneer hij die niet weet leert, dan komt hij het te weten“.
Deaonnim has the following general objective:
“To design, to rehabilitate and to build modern and sustainable learning centres for basic school children
while providing opportunities that enrich and enhance their learning experience”.
This general objective is pursued through the following set of activities
- To build, renovate, and maintain basic schools in underserved communities in Ghana.
- To provide educational resources, furniture, and learning materials for students and teachers.
- To promote quality basic education for children in rural areas.
- To collaborate with Ghanaian and Dutch governmental and non-governmental bodies for educational development.
- To mobilize resources, donations, and support for the construction and management of schools.
- To advocate for policies and initiatives that improve access to basic education in Ghana.
