Deaonnim Charities LBG is a recognised Dutch-Ghanaian Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), est. December 8th 2025. Our aim is to build and boost beautiful basic public schools for children of poor families in rural Ghana. Our first project is the construction of a six classroom primary school (P1 to P6) in Dunkwa-on-Offin. The funding for this school has been generously provided by the founder Bart van den Boom and by his wife Katja Mathijssen. With the help of a local friend, who is the co-founder of the charity, with the inputs of DOK architects, and with the skills and efforts of a local contractor, the construction started in January 2026.
It has been a great success. In less than 9 months we constructed the six classroom primary school block with all ancillary facilities including library room, staff common room, head teacher`s office, storeroom, washrooms and a septic tank. Very recently, in September 2026, we handed over the U-shaped building to the Ghana Education Service and to the Dunkwa Traditional Council. The grand opening with the fully operating school is planned for February 2027.
Our next projects will be to build a KinderGarten (KG1 and KG2) and a Junior High School storey building (JHS1 to JHS3) in the same architecture and on the same premises. The three buildings will make a modern and sustainable public learning center where children form poor families can develop themselves from toddlers into educated teenagers with a bright future.

This proverb is linked to one of the Adinkra symbols and translates in English and in Dutch as, respectively:
“When he who does not know learns, he gets to know“.
“Wanneer hij die niet weet leert, dan komt hij het te weten“.
